Loop + Loop = Loop x 2
A minimalist Maths Crossword puzzle made for GMTK Game Jam 2025.
Drag number and symbol blocks to form loops of mathematical equations (each equation reads from left to right and from top to bottom, equal signs have to be inside the loop and two operation symbols [+, -, x, /] cannot be placed together). All the blocks must be used.
Control:
- Drag: Move blocks
- Click or X: Continue (for message)
- Z: Undo
- R: Restart
- Esc: Menu / Level select
- M: Toggle sound effect
- Checkbox on top left corner: Toggle music

Due to the engine's constraint, all the solutions are hardcoded into the game, and thus there may be some unexpected ones. It is definitely my bad for overlooking those solutions and reducing your satisfaction of finding them.

Buggy behavior found in Firefox: Sometimes dragging a block may result in dragging the canvas. You can still drag the block to the desired place and click it to drop the block. If some blocks accidentally disappear, press Z to undo the move or R to restart the level.

Getting two symbols together without the parentheses are not really valid for an expression, at least not the simplest.

I didn't get through all the levels and got stuck on level 5 I think... But the game is extremely fun and challenging! I don't have much time right now since I have to rate another game then change my game... Sorry. I will come back after the jam is over to beat it later!
I really liked the base mechanic, really well designed and really enjoyable. In addition, the sfx of dragging the numbers is really satisfying!
Really loved the theme as well. One small suggestion(if you want to) is maybe to simplify the game a little bit for the jam version(because people are going to play the games fairly quickly) to showcase the entire game's mechanics.

I found a bug, by the way. If you have two different devices you can click with, you can seemingly delete blocks by grabbing one and clicking on another. This seems like a very niche edge case, but if you have time, it could be useful to fix.
Thank you for your report. Which browser are you using? Hope that my new update has fixed this bug as I don't have two clicking devices to reproduce it.
I am using Edge. The bug is still present. I don't frankly know how you could fix the issue. Perhaps making a seemingly redundant check for if the button is already pressed when you try to click again? IDK. I only found the glitch by chance since I'm using a laptop with a trackpad and a USB mouse. Again, it's probably an extreme edge-case that isn't worth fixing if you have literally anything else to do. But I wanted to bring it to your attention just in case.

Even with both of those hints, I'm still not seeing it. There's not much you can do with "4x" other than 2; there aren't many ways to get to "=2" without a 2.
